Our 7 day Cape York motorcycle tour begins in Cairns and concludes at the iconic tip of Australia (Pajinka) The return flight to Cairns offers spectacular aerial views of Cape York Peninsula’s diverse landscapes. Along the way, you’ll experience a variety of trails from winding forest paths to scenic open roads, showcasing lush tropical rainforest, expansive savannah plains and ancient rocky escarpments.

Itinerary

Day 1

Cairns - Lions Den Hotel

We meet at Ride Industries headquarters for a meet and greet and a safety briefing. We then jump on the bikes, heading straight out onto the dirt trails, linking up with Black Mountain Road through lush rainforest and in to the Daintree River Village for lunch. We cross the Daintree River to enter the famous CREB track or Bloomfield track, following along mountainous tracks, arriving at our first camp of the trip, The famous Lions Den Hotel.

Day 2

Lions Den Hotel - Kalpowar Crossing

After departing the Lions Den, we head to Cooktown where we spend the morning checking out Grassy Hill lighthouse and the spectacular views of the Endeavour river. Continuing north, we pass through Lakefield National Park (Rinyirru), a breathtaking landscape of savannah grasslands and peaceful waterways full of amazing wildlife. The day concludes at Kalpowar Crossing, where you can unwind under the stars and enjoy a home-cooked meal.You will notice the scenery change to Savannah Grasslands as we enter Lakefield National Park (Rinyirru). Here, you have the chance to try your luck at a bit of fishing or croc spotting.

Day 3

Kalpowar Crossing - Private Cattle Station

Riders on Lilyvale Road through Lama Lama National Park, Cape York, Queensland

The day will see us ride out from Kalpowar Crossing adventuring further into Lakefield National Park where the country will really start to change and that Cape York feeling starts to set in. We then head into Lilyvale station and onto Lama Lama country. We will stop at Running Creek where you can try your luck at fishing.  From here, we head to Coen and have lunch at the famous Sexchange Hotel. From there it’s a straight run to camp where we will spend the night relaxing by the fire with a cold beer and another home cooked meal.

Day 4

Private Cattle Station - Bramwell Roadhouse

Leaving the Cattle Station, we follow the road into Lockhart River to inspect the remains of the historic Batavia goldfields before continuing on to cross the steep banks of the Pascoe River. The Frenchman’s Track is one of the highlights of the trip with plenty of sand and creek crossings to navigate. We will arrive at the famous Moreton Telegraph Station for lunch on the green grassy lawns. The rest of the afternoon is a lazy ride into Bramwell Roadhouse, where we’ll make camp, have dinner and get ready for the next day of tackling the Old Telegraph Track.

Day 5

Bramwell Roadhouse - Loyalty Beach

Fruitbat Falls on the Old Telegraph Track, Cape York, Queensland

Leaving Bramwell Roadhouse nice and early, we get straight on to The Old Telegraph track. This is our biggest day of the trip tackling the entire length of the Telegraph Track with its many rocky water crossings and sandy sections. The southern section of the Telegraph track includes all the famous creek crossings such as Palm Creek, Gunshot Creek and Cockatoo Creek. Along the way we will stop at Fruit Bat and Elliot Falls for a relaxing swim. The Northern section of the Telegraph Track sees more fabulous creeks and sandy trails for the rest of the day finishing with the treacherous log crossing of Nolans Brook. We join back up with the main road and head for the mighty Jardine River where we cross on the local ferry heading for the top of Australia, on the way checking out a WW2 plane wreck before riding into camp at Loyalty Beach to enjoy the sunset over the water.

Day 6

Loyalty Beach - Tip of Australia

Our last day on the bikes sees us stopping at the famous Croc Tent where you are welcome to stock up on any souvenirs you want to remember your trip of a lifetime by. We then head into the beautiful tropical rainforest where we park our bikes before walking over a rocky escarpment revealing breathtaking views of the most northern tip of Australia and celebrate the ride with a picture at the sign, a memory you will cherish for years to come. We stop for lunch at Cape York’s most northerly restaurant located on a secluded island before heading back to camp where we will have dinner on the beach for your last night and celebrate your achievements of the last 6 days.
